The Comparison of Two Russian Prosaic Versions of J.M. Barrie's Fantastic Novel "Peter Pan"

The article deals with the comparing of two translations of the J.M. Barrie's novel "Peter Pan" (1911) into Russian (by N.Demurova and I.Tokmakova). Following G.T. Huhuni's approach, the authors propose to study the translation as a kind of intercultural adaptation. Using the terms "source text", "adapted text" the authors formulate the factors which cause the deviation of the translation. The purpose of this study is to find and describe lacunas in two different Russian translations of the English text "Peter Pan", also to correlate them with the different types of extralinguistic factors. The use of the poly-paradygmal approach in the intercultural adaptation studies causes the relevance of this article.
