Kinetics of leaching of the aluminum hydroxide in bauxites by alkaline solutions at atmospheric pressure

The kinetics of leaching of the aluminum hydroxide from the gibbsite bauxites of Guinea (Kindia deposit) is studied under atmospheric conditions. The activation energy of the process is found to be 34. 75 kJ/mol, which indicates that the process proceeds in a kinetic mode. The leaching of the aluminum hydroxide from bauxite in an alkaline solution is simulated using acid-base equilibria (ion exchange) and the electrochemical theory of the structure of a double electrical layer (Gram-Parsons theory). © 2011 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
