Synthesis, structure, and magnetic properties of a copper(II) chloride complex with 3-amino-2-methyl-4H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-4-one: The crystal structure Cu2Cl6(C9H10N3O)(2) center dot (C9H10N3O)Cl

The Complex Cu2Cl6(C9H10N3O)(2) . (C9H10N3O)Cl has been synthesized by the reaction between copper(II) chloride crystal hydrate and 3-amino-2-methyl-4H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-4-one, and its crystal structure has been determined. The Cu2Cl6(C9H10N2O)(2) is a centrosymmetric dimer in which two copper atoms are linked by two bridging chlorine atoms. The hexachlorodicuprate anion contained in the dimer has a twice-folded conformation. The copper atom (CN = 5) coordinates two chlorine atoms and the amino-group nitrogen of the organic cation. An EPR study revealed the antiferromagnetic properties of the complex.
