Synthesis, structure, and properties of oxo- and dioxochloro complexes of molybdenum(VI) and tungsten(VI) with 8-hydroxyquinoline

Molecular oxo-, dioxochloro complexes and inner complex compounds of molybdenum(VI) and tungsten(VI) with 8-hydroxyquinoline were synthesized and studied by IR spectroscopy. The complexes are octahedral. It was assumed that in molecular complexes 8-hydroxyquinoline is coordinated to the central atom through the pyridine nitrogen atom, whereas, in inner complex compounds, 8-hydroxyquinoline is coordinated through the pyridine nitrogen atom and the oxygen atom of the deprotonated OH group. The thermal stability of the complexes was studied. Copyright © 2005 by Pleiades Publishing, Inc.
