The topic raised in the monograph of T.M.Gavristova «Unknown Africa: history in biographies» (Yaroslavl, 2014, 192 p.), has not yet taken a firm place in modern Russian African studies, although it is no doubt the fact that the movement for study of history through biographical methods has been already recognized in the world of the humanities.
