TRAUMATIC LIFE EVENTS ON SELF-HARM

Self-harm, or self-harming behavior - is the intentional or unconscious infliction of physical damage to oneself in order to cope with one's experiences. In some cases, it can lead to death or serious pathology. This is one of the most pressing problems in the field of mental health of young people. This article analyzes the research of other authors on the topic of suicidal self-mutilation, and also examines the study of a disorder characterized by non-suicidal injuries. The purpose of this review is to summarize the current studies of traumatic life consequences leading to self-harm. A keyword search was conducted, which resulted in 9,293 preliminary results published from 2014 to 2021. They were checked by the author for inclusion/exclusion criteria, as a result of which 30 articles were included in this study. The included articles were quantitative studies assessing the causes of self-harm, suicidal risks and psychological assistance. The results show that anything can become a cause-and-effect relationship (there may not even be a cause): environmental pressure, poor living conditions, disorder, physical or moral violence, everything depends on the individual indicators of a person. It is important to focus on timely psychological assistance to people suffering from suicidal thoughts and self-harm. The results of this review can be used by the professionals dealing with the problem of self-harm.
