The article discusses the theoretical aspects of the problem, the conditions for the formation of cognitive interest of school children, the conceptual foundations for building the educational process. In addition, the publication provides a definition of cognitive interest. The purpose of this article is to consider the problem of the formation of cognitive interest in schoolchildren as a condition for increasing the effectiveness of education. To solve this problem, the article considers the levels of formation and factors affecting the formation of cognitive interest.
