A RUSSIAN FAIRY TALE AS A REFLECTION OF A NATIONAL CHARACTER

It is difficult to encounter a person who would have never heard of fairy tales. All around the globe, cultures possess their own values and specific traits. Thus, fairy tales reflect the cultural beliefs, spiritual and psychological qualities of people who have created, retold and transformed them. In other words, a fairy tale tends to be responsible for forming cultural identity and, to some extent, for creating the very basic perception of other nations through its folklore. In a globalised world of today, it is of vital importance to avoid purely stereotypic view on other cultures. Therefore, the present article aims at outlining the key features of a Russian fairy tale studied from the perspective of intercultural communication.
