New Organosilicon Olygomer Films for NLC Alignment

New olygomeric organosilicon ompounds (OSC) have been synthesized that may form molecular size microrelief. LC aligning films have been fabricated on the base of molecular microrelief substance as well as linear and cyclic organosiloxanes studied earlier. LC pretilt angle has been measured by using of optical methods for LC cells with the aligning films. Mesogens of different polarity (high and low dielectric anisotropy) have different values of both pretilt angle and polar surface energy. The LC pretilt angle of different LC can be varied in wide range from 0 to 90 degrees by varying the OS chemical structure.
