SUBJECTIVE FACTOR OF INTERPRETING

Any activity including speech activity and interpreting as a form of mediation is implemented by a certain individual with personal and unique traits and natural characteristics. As interpreting is generally considered as a specific activity like teaching, financing or painting etc. a person involved in this activity is supposed to have some abilities, competencies and psychological inclinations and aspiration to perform this particular activity. Any person who is going to succeed in and make career as an interpreter in a specific setting should be examined from the point of view of his/her psychological compatibility and an interpreting activity in a specific setting. Personal characteristics and traits of an interpreter, his/her language abilities, speech skills and competencies should be taken into consideration when teaching and training interpreters-to-be. Some issues of the psychological traits of an interpreter's personality as well as the practical implementation of the theoretical findings are considered in the paper.
