Dichotomy "Our/Others" in the mass media discourse of feminism

The purpose of this study is to identifycommon patterns and national characteristics ofmodeling the linguocultural category of Our / Others infeminism discourse. The object of this article is a metaphoricalrepresentation of the images of Our own and Others inthe feminist discourse of Russia and the United States.The subject of the research is the General laws andnational features of metaphorical modeling oflinguocultural categories of Ours - Others in the feministdiscourse of Russia and the United States. The scientificnovelty of the study is determined by a comprehensivestudy of conceptual metaphors that function in theRussian and American feminist discourse to model thebipolar category of Our - Others. The paper identifiesand characterizes, on the one hand, metaphorical modelsused to characterize both Our own and Others (militaryand bestial models), and on the other hand, models thatare used only to characterize Others (family model) orTheir own (religious and economic models). Metaphoricalmodels reflecting General trends in the development offeminist discourse of the two countries (they areaggressors, they are animals, we are victims, we arewarriors) are identified and systematized. Analyzed themetaphoric model, reflecting the national specificities andthe impact of national socio-political situation in thefeminist metaphor (they are sick, they are children, weare representatives of a higher power, we're animals, we -goods consumption). Cognitive-discursive study of metaphorical modelingallows to identify the conceptual content of linguistic andcultural category of Our own and Others in the feministdiscourse. For supporters of feminism Our - is, first,women, and secondly - people who share the ideology offeminism. Respectively of Others is, first, men second -the opponents of feminism, proponents of the traditionalsociety, the distribution of gender roles, which proponentsof feminism define as Patriarchal and sexist.
