Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and IR Spectra of catena-[trans-Dichloro-μ-spiro{cyclohexane-1′,3-[1-(4′,4′- dimethyl-2′,6′-dioxo-1′-cyclohexylidene)-1,2,3,4- tetrahydroisoquinoline-O,O]}copper(II)] Monohydrate

CuCl2 · nH2O (n < 2) reacts with spiro{cyclohexane-1′,3-[1-(4′,4′-dimethyl-2′,6′- dioxo-1′-cyclohexylidene)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline]} (L1) in an acetone-heptane mixture to produce the complex [CuL1Cl2]n · nH2O (I). According to X-ray structural analysis, in the polymeric chain structure of I, L1 occurs as the enamine-diketone tautomer and acts as a bidentate bridging ligand, which coordinates copper via two oxygen atoms. The IR spectra of the complex are considered.
