Transition-Metal Complexes of 4-Amino- and 4,6-Dihalopyrimidinoanthrones

Manganese(II), iron(III), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), zinc, and palladium(II) complexes of 4-amino-, 4-anilino-, 4-chloro-6-bromo-, and 4,6-dibromopyrimidinoanthrones were synthesized and isolated. As evident from infrared and electronic absorption spectroscopic data and the results of quantum-chemical calculations, the ligands coordinate to metal cations through the carbonyl oxygen atom and a ring nitrogen atom, unlike 2-amino derivatives of pyrimidinoanthrone (PA), which coordinate through a ring nitrogen atom only.
