In this paper short-term traffic forecasting is considered. The relevance of this work is in the analysis of modern methods of data collection and forecasting. The paper presents the main methods of collecting, sorting and analyzing data, as well as methods of forecasting and analyzing the results of forecasting. In this paper, the methods for collecting, sorting and analyzing data have been studied and analyzed, both the disadvantages and advantages of these methods have been identified, and the applicability of each of the methods has been carried out. In addition, the paper presents a method for analyzing the results of forecasting: a model for evaluating the results of forecasting. In addition, considering all the disadvantages and advantages, as well as the application of the methods, a model chosen for practical application in modern realities has been presented, which, in fact, is a set of methods described in the work. The paper presents not only a new method for assessing the accuracy of short-term forecasting, but also its errors, which allows to elaborate a more detailed approach to the forecasting process. The paper presents the analysis of the forecast quality model using the obtained data, as well as self-produced diagrams and graphs that allow to visualize data collecting and sorting.
