International and national legal mechanisms of ensuring social justice for the elderly

An increase in the proportion of older people in the overall population of most countries entails changes in the scale and structure of morbidity, which require higher expenditures on health care and socio-medical services. Maintaining the health and activity of the elderly is an important indicator of the efficiency of public policies in the field of health and social welfare. Under these conditions, it is necessary to elaborate some effective measures promoting prosperous aging. These measures are primarily legislative, administrative, and others, as well as development of a strategy and action plan of socio-economic nature, which will take into account as many needs of older people as possible. © 2014, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
