The complex (LH)2[Cu(NO3)4], where L is 1-morpholino-3,3-dimethyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline, is synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography and IR and electronic spectroscopy. The complex has a cationic-anionic structure. The organic ligand is protonated at the nitrogen atom of the dihydroisoquinoline moiety. The LH+ cations and [Cu(NO3)4]2- anions are linked by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Of the four nitrato groups, one is coordinated monodentate, one is bidentate, and two are anisobidentate.
