Prevention strategies for reducing the incidence of cervical cancer: Half-measures or new approaches?

Objective. To define the most effective areas for the prevention of cervical cancer. Materials and methods. Publications included in the Cochrane library, EMBASE, PUBMED, MEDLINE, eLIBRARY.RU, and free access electronic databases were analyzed using key words. Results. This review considers whether current screening methods can identify cervical precancer at subclinical stages. Conclusion. There are data on the most informative screening methods and on treatment options for HPV-associated cervical lesions, including those on the role of immunomodulation therapy with inosine. © Bionika Media Ltd.
