1-Morpholino-3,3-Dimethyl-3,4-Dihydroisoquinoline and Its Complexes with Cobalt(II) and Copper(II) Chlorides: Synthesis and X-Ray Structural and Spectroscopic Study

1-Morpholino-3,3-dimethyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline (L) and its complexes with cobalt(II) and copper(II) chlorides of the (LH)2[MCl4] composition were synthesized. The structures of the compounds were studied by X-ray crystallography and electronic and IR spectroscopy. The isostructural complexes (LH)2[ML4], where M = Co2+ or Cu2+, have the cation-anion structure. The organic ligand HL+ with a proton at the nitrogen atom of the dihydroisoquinoline moiety is linked to the [MCl4]2- through the N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bond.
