Vector theory of laser radiation scattering in an integrated optical waveguide with three-dimensional irregularities in the presence of noise

The vector theory of laser radiation scattering in an integrated optical waveguide with three-dimensional irregularities in the presence of noise is developed. The solution of the electrodynamic problem of laser radiation scattering in an irregular waveguide is obtained by the mode coupling technique using the perturbation theory. An approximate solution of the inhomogeneous three-dimensional wave equation is obtained by the method of Green's functions. The analytic formulas are derived for the radiation fields of propagating and evanescent modes. A physical interpretation is given for the obtained results. The role of noise as an independent depolarising factor (in addition to the classical one) during scattering of light is pointed out.
