The problem of dam failure is one of the most prevalent problems among hydraulic installations problems. The consequences of the failure of dams may be catastrophic for the environment and for humans alike, as some failures can threaten the structural integrity of the dam body, which may result in serious consequences. The problem of dam failure may be the result of one factor or a group of factors that collectively lead to failure. Therefore, dam operators and workers must have a good knowledge of the nature of potential problems, so that they can communicate with the engineer who designed the dam to take the necessary measures to avoid failure. In this review, we will review the different reasons that can lead to the failure of the dam.
