ENHANCING CONCRETE DURABILITY IN AGGRESSIVE ENVIRONMENTS: ADVANCED MATERIALS AND SUSTAINABLE STRATEGIES

This article provides an extensive review of recent advances in concrete technology aimed at enhancing durability in aggressive environments. Recent studies published in Scopus indexed journals have explored the integration of advanced materials such as supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), fibers, and nanomaterials with innovative curing methods and sustainable approaches to mitigate degradation caused by chlorides, sulfates, carbonation, freeze-thaw cycles, and cold climates. New research focusing on the behavior of concrete in extreme weather conditions and the application of cold-weather thermal treatments further enriches our understanding of durability challenges and solutions. In this extended discussion, theoretical models, experimental results, and field studies are combined to offer new insights into formulation optimization, advanced testing methods, and long-term performance improvement.
