The clinical syndrome of anorexia nervosa in borderline mental states (Russian)

Clinical and follow up checks were made of 57 patients, where anorexia nervosa appeared in the pubertal period, with the background of dysmorphophobia dysmorphomania. The 'biological basis' of the disorder, and the role of the age factor and microenvironmental influences are discussed. A follow up study showed that when the syndrome of anorexia nervosa is significantly reduced, it preserves its connection with dysmorphophobic fears, and in the remote stages of the disease, it is combined with pathologic personality changes of the excitatory type. It is assumed that the condition described is a protracted reactive state, or an independent somatopsychic borderline disease. (18 references)
