Верховный суд

Верховный суд, высшее судебное учреждение государства, в компетенцию которого входит, как правило, разрешение споров между составными частями государства, рассмотрение дел о преступлениях высших должностных лиц и наиболее тяжких государственных преступлениях. Во многих странах верховные суды возглавляют систему судов общей юрисдикции и являются высшей апелляционной инстанцией, в которой обжалуются судебные решения всех нижестоящих судов страны. В некоторых государствах верховный суд осуществляет также функции толкования конституции и решения вопроса о соответствии ей других нормативных актов (в связи с рассмотрением конкретных дел).

Supreme Court, the highest judicial institution of the state, whose competence usually includes resolving disputes between the constituent parts of the state, considering cases of crimes committed by senior officials and the most serious state crimes. In many countries, supreme courts head the system of courts of general jurisdiction and are the highest appellate instance, in which judicial decisions of all lower courts of the country are appealed. In some countries, the supreme court also performs the functions of interpreting the constitution and deciding the issue of compliance with it of other normative acts (in connection with the consideration of specific cases).
