The article considers the actual issue of land use development in urban areas. The land uses by spheres of land allocations (land plots, territories) have been analyzed. It has been shown that the greatest damage to the ecology of the city is caused by the sphere of solid municipal waste management. The types of soil pollution caused by human activities in urban areas have been identified. To solve this problem, it is proposed to use the business process of remediation of contaminated land as part of the technological map to determine the volume of work and its cost, as well as network diagram model to account for this business process by time. Three methods of land reclamation depending on the degree of contamination are offered: low-cost, medium-cost and expensive. By the example of the expensive method of land restoration, the use of technological maps, including technical and biological stages of work, in combination with network planning, has been substantiated. Based on the study, it has been proved that the use of technological map together with network diagram model within the framework of business in the frame of the process of remediation of contaminated land in the sustainable management of solid municipal waste will improve urban land management. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
