Memory of migratory communities in the museum space of Moscow discursive strategies and regimes of visibility;

Using the example of the museum space of Moscow, the article analyzes the features of discursive strategies and regimes of visibility of the memory of migratory communities, and also evaluates their ability to be the actors in Russian politics of memory. The use of constructivist methodology, as well as a comparative analysis of the practices of museumification and exhibition of migratory communities and diasporas, made it possible to talk about the essential specificity of the regime of visibility in Russia, which is a combination of images of the past of the country of origin and individual voices of the autobiographical and family memory of migrants. The analysis of three groups of museums and cultural centers associated with the representation of migration experience showed that increasing the degree of activity of migratory communities in the field of commemoration is not a significant goal either for the host society or a priority goal for the migratory communities themselves. The representation of the collective memory of migratory communities continues to be largely carried out with the help of the memory institutions of the diasporas in Russia, which contributes to the reproduction of parallel communities of memory of migrants and the local population. The creation of digital museums and exhibitions on the Internet has proven to be the most productive form of presentation of commemorative practices of migratory communities in modern conditions. © 2024 Aquilo.
