The article discusses the methodology required to assess the level of development of the digital economy in Latin America. The purpose of the study is to develop an optimal methodology for solving this problem and testing it in practice. Having studied the main approaches to assessing the level of development of the digital economy, the authors came to the conclusion that, despite their sufficient volume, a universal methodology has not yet been presented. To objectively assess the level of digitalization of the economy of individual countries, the author’s methodology is proposed, applicable to the countries of Latin America, taking into account its regional characteristics. On this basis, three groups of countries are distinguished: with a high, medium, and low level of development of the digital economy. The results obtained can contribute to the development of more effective solutions to increase the digitalization of the region. © (2023), (Institute of Latin American Studies). All Rights Reserved.
