Versatility of reproductive disorders in obese patients: the view of endocrinologist, obstetrician-gynecologist and urologist; [Многогранность репродуктивных нарушений у пациентов с ожирением: взгляд эндокринолога, акушера-гинеколога и уролога]

The issue of obesity is becoming increasingly critical each year. This is mainly due to the persistent rise in obesity prevalence and related chronic conditions, particularly cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Reproductive issues, epecially in women, are not always directly linked to obesity; however, numerous studies have demonstrated this connection. It is now clear that managing patients (both female and male) with obesity and infertility requires a comprehensive approach, including lifestyle and dietary modifications, as well as the appropriate pharmacological interventions. In this article, the problem of obesity-related infertility is examined by three specialists — an endocrinologist, an obstetrician-gynecologist, and a urologist — who are actively involved in treating these patients. The pathophysiological aspects of obesity's impact on the reproductive system are discussed. Clinical case studies highlight the potential for correcting reproductive disorders in patients with obesity and infertility. The article emphasizes the importance of developing effective weight management tactics, including the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists. © 2024 Meditsina-Inform LLC. All rights reserved.
