The high prevalence of obesity warrants the need for new methods of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Telemedicine technologies are being intensively developed and widely used in health care. The literature review provides detailed information on the challenges in treating obese patients: limited accessibility and high cost of treatment, geographical barriers, etc. Currently available telemedicine technologies used to treat overweight and obesity are described: video conferences, mHealth, health applications, medical wearable devices, timely adaptive interventions, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, as well as «smart devices». Telemedicine technologies have been shown to reduce the limitations of effective strategies to maintain patients’ adherence to weight loss programs. © Media Sphera Publishing Group.
