Role of certain nutrients in nervous system development and possible modulatory effects of complementary feeding

This article describes the impact of certain nutrients on the development of the child’s nervous system and the formation of cognitive abilities. It discusses the role of iron, zinc, iodine, vitamins B1, B12, and A, long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, gut microbiota-brain axis functioning in cognitive development, as well as the long-term outcomes of neuro-nutrient deficiency. Since ensuring optimal nutrition at important stages of child development can reduce the risks of deficiency states and prevent nervous system disorders, special attention is paid to complementary feeding, which can play a modulating role in the formation of child health. © Издательство «Династия», 2023.
