The article presents the data about emotional condition of 101 cardiology department’ patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillations. The aim of the study was to investigate the levels of anxiety - depressive reaction in patients with arrhythmias refractory to pharmacotherapy with the need for surgery radiofrequency ablation and implantation of a pacemaker. Clinical and psychometric methods revealed: such patients with arrhythmias had characteristic features of personal anxiety, melancholic temperament with a fairly high level of introversion and emotional instability. A comparative study of the levels of anxiety and depression on the basic psychometric scales in the preoperative, postoperative period and 21 day treatment of anxiety and antidepressive drugs was done. It was revealed that the use of paroxetine in standard doses quickly reduced the anxiety and depressive reaction. Cardiophobia developed in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillations even after successful surgery RFA (with/without pacemaker implantation). Psychopharmacotherapy leads to objective positive dynamics in the course of the primary cardiac disease, improves the live’s quality of the patients, prevents the Cardiophobia in the late postoperative period.
