The International Standard on Auditing (ISA) 450 "Evaluation of distortions identified during the audit" is taken to be studied in conjunction with the ISA 200 Standard "The main objectives of an independent auditor and conducting an audit in accordance with International Standards on Auditing". The specified auditing standard establishes the auditor's duties related to the assessment of the effect of identified distortions on the audit, along with uncorrected distortions, if any. The primary responsibility of the auditor is to establish, in formulating an opinion on the financial statements, whether it is possible to obtain reasonable assurance that there are no material misstatements in the financial statements as a whole.
