The article describes evolution of the strategy of the US Administration in the Caspian Region and Central Asia beginning from the early 1990s after formation of the New Independent States. Advantages of geographical location, considerable hydrocarbon reserves, crossing of major transport communication made the Caspian Region very attractive for the world's major oil and gas companies. After declaring the Caspian a region of their vital interests the United States started accomplishment of their geostrategic and geoeconomic targets. Terrorist acts in the United States, anti-terrorist operations in Afghanistan had changed drastically the geopolitical configuration in this part of Eurasia.
