СAROTID SURGERY FOR MULTIPLE LESIONS OF MAJOR BRAIN ARTERIES

Widespread atherosclerosis is considered to be the primary etiological factor of stenosis and occlusion of cerebral arteries. We have assessed the results, mainly clinical outcomes of surgical treatment of patients with multiple lesions of major brain arteries. The aim of this article is to clarify the surgical tactics in this category of patients on the basis of data from modern diagnostic methods, assessment of the clinical status and pathophysiology of cerebral circulation. The indications and surgical strategy of performing reconstructive interventions are determined by hemodynamic significance of stenosing lesions of MAG, presence of leading clinical symptoms, as well as the state and anatomical variants of circle of Willis.
