Reactions between cis-[Ru(DMSO)(4)Cl-2] and an acetate ion in solutions

Solutions of cis-[Ru(DMSO)(4)Cl-2] in water and alcohols were studied in the presence of CH3COONa depending on concentrations and reagent ratios. It was shown that introduction of the acetate ion into the cis-[Ru(DMSO)(4)Cl-2] solution in methanol initially results in the formation of fac-[Ru(DMSO)(3)Cl-3](-), which can be isolated as a sodium salt insoluble in methanol, The compound Na[Ru(DMSO)(3)(CH3COO)(2)Cl] was synthesized and spectroscopically characterized for the first time.
