Since the XX century has left a mark on peoples' history it is becoming more and more important to look at the events occurred then and to assess the evolution of people's attitude towards the government of different countries' leaders. And while the attitude towards, for example, Churchill or Hitler are stable, there are two controversial figures to be discussed even nowadays. In this work the authors compared the attitude towards Francisco Franco and Carl-Gustav Mannerheim in the countries they reigned. For the practical part of the study, the authors selected two European leaders who were in fact the Nazism's allies but managed to avoid the Nuremberg Tribunal for them as well as to withdraw their countries from war without damaging consequences.
