Regarding the notion and disciplinary status of historical sociology

"Regarding the notion and disciplinary status of historical sociology" (by Olga Griaznova and Denis Podvoisky) discusses the problems of historical sociology raised by the discussants in the 'Round Table' on the subject (Sociological Studies. 2005. No. 1). In authors' opinion, the discussion has obviously demonstrated the need to further clarify such issues as disciplinary field, basic notions and structure of the discipline in question. Proceeding from this viewpoint, they air their ideas about the place of historical sociology in the humanitarian knowledge, and review genesis, as well as methodology applied by the practiciens of historical sociology. Significant importance of this approach is emphasized in conclusion for the production of scientific knowledge.
