The effectiveness of the combined interferon and immunomodulatory therapy in chronic infectious-inflammatory diseases of the genital tract in women

The present study demonstrates different disorders of functions of the immune system (IS) in women with chronic infectious-inflammatory diseases of the genital tract. Those disorders of the IS create preconditions for maintaining low-intensity inflammatory process in apparent clinical improvement and increase the likelihood of frequent exacerbations of chronic infectious-inflammatory process. Leading defects of IS were low level of serum interferon gamma (IFN gamma) and different damage functioning of neutrophilic granulocytes (NG). Authors created the combined program of interferon and immunomodulatory therapy. The prolonged course and adequate doses of interferon alpha 2b in combination with antioxidants (viferon) and immunomodulatory therapy by glucosaminylmuramyl dipeptide (likopid) have demonstrated a high clinical and immunological efficiency. The correction of imbalances in the IS system was achieved. The normalization of the clinical status was obtained: reducing the number of the exacerbations, increasing the duration of the "true" clinical remission and the prolongation of the relapse-free period of chronic infectious-inflammatory diseases of the genital tract in women.
