Tariffication of Non-tariff Barriers Applied to the Tea Import in the Russian Federation

Purpose of the study is to determine the tariff equivalent of non-tariff measures applied to the tea import into Russia. Research objectives: classification of existing methodological approaches to tariffication; determination of Russia’s place in the commodity market for assessing tariff equivalents (tea market); price factors analysis in the global tea market; tea market trade barriers classification; specification of methodology for tariff equivalent calculationwhich issuitable for non-tariff barriers applied to the tea market. Findings: estimations show that the identified technical barriers on Russian tea import market equals to 2.5% ad valorem tariff equivalent rate, compared with Pakistan tea market, where tea import is not regulated by non-tariff barriers Originality/value: There are many approaches to the tariffication. Detailed tariffication methodology and formulas are presented in the source [4]. Also a significant impact on the results of the study made a research [8]. But these researches contain estimations for product groups, while the represented paper contains an attempt to determine the tariff equivalent for a specific product. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
