Features of the developable shells’ geometry for the space industry

Thin-walled shell-type structures constitute an extensive class in various fields of human activities, including the rocket and space industry and aircraft construction. Each surface has certain advantages over others. Thus, developable surfaces can be developed to the plane by all its points without creases or breaks. When modelling various products in the form of torses or approximating of torse surfaces with specified engineering requirements, it is necessary to know and understand the nature of the torse geometry. To obtain new information on the construction of the equal slope shell with a directrix ellipse at the base, we use differential geometry methods, the Mathcad system, and the SCAD Office computational complex are used. As a result of the research, the dependence of the coordinates of two methods for constructing a directrix ellipse at the base of the equal slope shell and the parametric equations of a closed curved line in the cross section with the planes z=zo=const are determined. © 2021, Univelt Inc.
