Testing and selection of counterbody material for operating in abrasive conditions

Materials that can serve as a substitute for hard tissues of a human tooth in abrasion tests of toothbrushes were reviewed. The microstructure of hard dental tissues was studied using a light microscope. Microhardness was measured on slices of the intact third molars and the outer surface of the incisors. It was established that the selection of the counterbody material in tribological tests of toothbrushes was reduced to the search for a tooth enamel analog. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
