PRIVATE INTEREST FOUNDATIONS FOR ASSET PROTECTION AND ESTATE PLANNING

This article focuses on Panamanian private interest foundations as a form of estate planning and a vehicle to transfer and protect assets instead of undergoing a succession process, whether testate or intestate. The first part refers to the importance of private interest foundations for lawyers and clients. The second part explain the institution of private interest foundations in general, their concept, legal nature, legal basis, personal and documentary elements. Finally, in the third and last part, we analyze the proceeding and particularities of opening a Private Interest Foundation in Panama.
