Ideas alternative to the traditional Confucian authoritative hierarchical culture should be sought within the Chinese cultural tradition. The article proposed to review the sources of those ideas in the Chinese Ch'anschool and Taoism. The Ch'an school has a powerful creative stream, which is absolutely required for today's creative perception. It is the Ch'an school that stored the thought of an absolute creative freedom, enduring value of self-expression. In accordance with the Ch'an school teaching, a teacher does not force a student to learn the “dead” knowledge and rules but together with the student is searching for the way for the student to independently unlock the inherent qualities.
