Performance evaluation of multi-carrier power line communication systems in real condition for smart grid neighborhood area networks

This paper provides deployment options of power line communication usage for smart metering low voltage applications. The article focusses on reliability comparison of the narrow band PRIME and G3-PLC power line communication standards in the real condition and laboratory environment. The main goal is to evaluate these standards between transformer station and devices in nearby buildings (e.g. smart meters). The article describes a specific equipment and measurements conditions in real underground transformers station. The measurement is focused on verifying sufficient transmission quality and speed in different setups of modem standards. © 2017 IEEE.
