PROSPECTS OF LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL STUDIES AS AN ACADEMIC DISCIPLINE

The article is devoted to the issue of identifying a relatively young academic discipline of linguistic studies in an independent and compulsory course in the framework of learning a foreign language and the current vector of its further development. The authors emphasize the rapid growth of the importance of linguistic studies in the system of modern linguistic education, analyze the trends in defining its tasks and the transformation of content dictated by social inquiry, which will determine this discipline in the near future. The article also focuses on new types and forms of work in linguistic and cultural studies, supplanting traditional exercises in teaching a foreign language, and urgent educational and methodological problems of this subject, the solution of which is likely to have a significant impact on what the course will be. linguistic studies in the coming years. The authors pay special attention to the role in this process of internships and teaching aids, which became widely available also relatively recently and opened up additional opportunities for improving the methods of language teaching and intercultural communication.
