Supplementation as a new opportunity of management of the climacteric

Objective. To study the possibility of using supplementation in management of patients suffering from climacteric disorders and having a risk of asthenia and depressive disorders. Patients and methods. The study included 70 menopausal female patients who presented with complaints about specific vasomotor symptoms of the climacteric in combination with complaints about emotional lability, sleep disorders, apathy, decreased memory performance and concentration problems, sexual disorders. All patients received transdermal oestradiol 0.06% in combination with continuous monophasic micronized progesterone therapy. 35 patients additionally to menopausal hormonal therapy (MHT) received supplementation with a Famvital complex for 12 wks according to instructions. Results. A statistically significant improvement of all parameters on the Greene scale and the Spielberger–Hanin scale (anxiety assessment) was obtained in patients who additionally to MHT received supplement therapy as compared to the group who received only MHT (p < 0.05). Conclusion. Supplementation improves the effect of menopausal hormonal therapy on patients’ mental, cognitive and psychoemotional status, permits to obtain a faster response to pathogenetically justified therapy with bioidentical analogues of natural sex hormones. © 2020, Dynasty Publishing House.
