WROUGHT AMARANTH GRAIN AS A COMPONENT OF COMBINED FODDER

Food security is an important issue in Russia today. It can be improved by increase in production of livestock industries which depend on formation of a stable food base. Life quality is determined by animal and human consumption of protein. In modern animal husbandry feed additives require at least 35% protein content. Soy has a leading position among protein additives for animal feed production in the USA, Brazil and other countries. One of the reasons of protein deficiency is lack of seed preparation for feeding in Russia. The seed process improvement will lead to an increase in crop acreage and feed quality. Non-traditional raw materials, e.g. amaranth, can be used to improve feed quality and protein level. Amaranth is a weed plant which adapts easily to the local climate, matures quickly, and can grow on saline soils. Wrought amaranth grain can be used in production of animal feed. The developed technologies of heat treatment of amaranth grain and processed products allow it to produce a variety of chemical composition, nutritional value of feed. It will have been used in agricultural livestock.
