Thermal effect on the flexural strength of expanded clay lightweight basalt fiber reinforced concrete

The strength of structural concrete is of high importance to every constructor. When the structural concrete in a structure is not durable or poses the necessary properties that is needed for a structure to withstand harsh environment or accident, the structure should be avoided or reinforced or rebuilt to meet the necessary standard. Basalt fiber and expanded clay are two materials that have shown their thermal strength when imposed to high temperature. This research aimed at analyzing and checking the experiment aspect of expanded clay lightweight basalt fiber reinforced concrete when exposed to thermal. From the experimental results, it is seen that both main materials have the thermal resistance ability to an extent, which has proven and confirmed the thermal property of the two main focused materials. It is necessary to know that the percentage of basalt fiber in concrete has a major role in the thermal resistance of the concrete. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
