Numerical Analysis of the Protection of a Harbor Against Waves

A method for evaluating the protection of a harbor against wind waves by numerical simulation is demonstrated for the Port of Ust-Luga as an example. For this purpose, the DHI MIKE 21 SW and BW models are used. Ageneral algorithm and a universal research plan are presented. The calculated wave characteristics are compared with their allowable values obtained from Russian regulations. Conclusions on the reliability of the numerical method used and the relevance of the data in the regulations are drawn. © 2019, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.
