The adsorption of Cl-, Br-, and I- ions on particles of a silver sol at 295 K is studied. An analysis of the Gibbs adsorption isotherms for the ions suggests that the strength of adsorption binding increases in the series Cl-, Br-, and I-. The treatment of the absorption spectra of the sols within the framework of the Mie theory and the theory of plasma resonance absorption shows that the effective concentration of conduction electrons in the silver particles increases due to the displacement of electrons from adsorbed ions to the metal bulk, where they are collectivized in the conduction electron plasma. The degree of displacement increase in the series Cl-, Br-, and I-.
