CONNOTATIONALLY MARKED NOUNS WITH THE METAPHORICAL MEANING OF QUANTITY

The lexical-semantic group of nouns with the metaphorical meaning of quantity in English is characterized in the article from the viewpoint of connotational markedness. Relying on the analysis the author identifies that the studied group is heterogeneous: some lexemes are neutral, and others are connotationally marked. The conducted analysis of the connotationally marked nouns testifies that the investigated group refers to the category of colloquial vocabulary.
